'If It's Football, It's Vital'

WFC awards night round-up

Defender Adrian Mariappa bagged his second Player of the Season gong last night as he landed the Player's Player award.

The Harrow-born defender, who was presented with the Player of the Season gong as voted for by fans, also landed the Player's Player of the Season award.

Another predictable winner on the night was Sean Murray, who received the Young Player of the Season award.

The home-grown midfielder has made an explosive breakthrough this season, notching seven goals in just 19 appearances from wide midfield.

Troy Deeney claimed the Goal of the Season award for his stunning strike at home to Ipswich Town.

The workaholic forward slid in to collect a short back pass before getting back on his feet and sweetly curling past the Town 'keeper from an acute angle.

Finally, the Team Performance of the Season was chosen as the 2-0 victory over Millwall at The Den on January 31.

With the Hornets reeling from the news that Marvin Sordell was set to complete a last-ditch move to the Premier League, the 'Orns put in a committed performance to earn a 2-0 win.

A first goal of the season for Joe Garner, and a neat finish from that man Deeney secured the win.

Congratulations to all the winners, and for that matter, every member of the squad for a truly superb season.

Glad Deeney won something.... Though was his goal the best I don't know... Maybe it was a case of Deeney should win something... I think half of Murrays goal were better than that one which won.... Anyway well done to all the winners....

I have to say I voted for that goal, simply because it was well, well finished and made all by his sheer determination & audacity.
