Dyche 'proud' as season reaches climax

The 2011/12 season will be consigned to the history books for the Hornets this Saturday, but Sean Dyche says he is 'proud' of his side's efforts.

It's been a long, hard season for all connected with the club, having seen the previous manager and much of the backroom staff depart, a number of key players also moved on.

A plethora of new arrivals signed up to Dyche's masterplan, and although it's fair to say some haven't worked out (yet), a good number have contributed heavily over the course of the season.

The tantrums of owner Laurence Bassini could have unsettled a less focussed set of players and management, but if nothing else, this is a group of people that work for one another and enjoy doing so.

Looking back on his debut season as manager at the Vic', Sean Dyche told The Watford Observer that he was pleased with the Hornet's points haul:

"I am proud and disappointed at the same time. We have had two or three games where we should have won - well it isn't fair to say should have won as there are no guarantees in winning games, but we have done enough to win games.'

Dyche continued:

"But I am very pleased overall of course. There has been so many transitions and so much going on this year to think about. We had to reorganise and galvanise to bring the group together. Great credit to the players and my staff; they work very hard and even early in the season when people were questioning us, there were good people doing good work here, including the players and not just the staff.'

Congratulations from Vital Watford to everyone at the club for what has been ultimately, a very memorable season. It's been a lot smoother than many predicted, even those of us who backed Dychey from day one, and to see the side grow from the trip to Turf Moor on day one to the side that will take on Middlesbrough this weekend has a been a pleasure.

Come on you 'Orns!
