'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Watford loan round-up

Hayes & Yeading attacker Piero Mingoia stole the headlines for Watford's loanees this weekend, bagging his second goal in as many appearances for the Blue Square Premier outfit.

Mingoia, who scored Hayes' consolation goal in a 3-1 defeat at home to Mansfield last weekend, struck again this weekend to secure all three points for his temporary side.

The Italian-born winger-cum-forward has made six starts and one substitute appearance now, scoring twice.

Also in the non-league, Chez Isaac's Tamworth side were beaten once more, going down 3-0 at home to title winners, Fleetwood Town.

The Lambs are 18th in the Blue Square Premier, safe from relegation threat with one game to play.

Back in the Football League, Scunthorpe United pair David Mirfin and Josh Walker were beaten at the weekend at Mirfin's former club, Huddersfield Town.

Mirfin played 90 minutes whilst Walker failed to make the matchday 16. An 89th minute goal from Lee Novak secured the win for Simon Grayson's Terriers.

It was an unsuccessful weekend for Adam Thompson's Brentford, who were beaten 2-1 at Gary Smith's Stevenage.

Thompson was substituted in the 63rd minute, two minutes after Luke Freeman struck the decisive goal for the 'Boro.

Jonathan Bond of Bury made his fourth appearance for the Shakers who were 4-2 victors against Keith Curle's Play-Off chasing Notts County.

Bond has won three of his four matches between the sticks for Bury since arriving on April 1.
