OFFICIAL: Walker secures permanent Scunthorpe deal

Watford and Scunthorpe United have agreed to honour a deal struck in January which will see Josh Walker join the Iron on a free transfer this summer.

The 23 year-old central midfielder was set to join Alan Knill's side in January on a free ut FIFA stepped in to prevent the deal which would have seen Walker play for more than two clubs this season.

Former Middlesbrough trainee Walker will now link up with the Lincolnshire-based outfit this summer on a one-year contract.

A Malky Mackay signing, Walker never made a league start for the 'Orns after arriving in August 2010 from Teesside.

Walker spent last season on loan at Stevenage and Northampton Town before spending part of this campaign with Stevenage before a loan switch to Glandford Park.

A former England youth international, Walker had been out of contract at the Vic' this summer and as our earlier 'What does the future hold for?' piece suggested, this move caught us totally off-guard!

Good luck at Scunthorpe Josh!
