Murray scoops 'Young Player of the Month' award

Watford's latest Goldenboy Sean Murray has won the Football League 'Young Player of the Month' award for March.

The 18 year-old Republic of Ireland youth international was this afternoon awarded the accolade after an outstanding March.

Having only made his first professional start in February of this year against Spurs in the F.A Cup Murray has excelled down both the right and left flank.

Five goals in 16 appearances for the club have been enough to set tongues wagging about a potential move to the Premier League but Murray is fully focussed on cementing his first-team spot at the Vic'.

Speaking to BBC Sport Murray said:

'I need to cement my place in this team before I can make a big impact [in the Premier League]'

The energetic Academy graduate continued:

'I'd definitely want to go up with Watford.

'We've pushed on at the back end of this season. At the start of the campaign nobody expected us to be as high as we are. That just shows how good the team ethic is.'

There has been interest from top-flight outfits Manchester City and Liverpool in Murray before he penned a professional deal in WD18 however on the advice of his parents the midfielder signed on the dotted line at Vicarage Road.

Murray recently agreed a brand new deal at the club which will see him through until 2015.

Congratulations Sean!
