Dyche: 'The players keep rising to the challenge'

Sean Dyche was buoyant as Watford continued their unbeaten run at the expense of Bristol City this evening.

Watford were without skipper John Eustace and vice-captain Aidy Mariappa thanks to injury but were still able to defeat below-par Robins outfit.

Martin Taylor skippered the side for the first time on his return from a five-month lay off.

A howler from former Hornet's stopper David James got the ball rolling in the 15th minute before Sean Murray doubled the lead five minutes later.

Speaking afterwords to the Official Site, Dyche praised his side:

'I'm very, very pleased with the players. They have responded again, with the challenge that two of the club's senior players were injured. The players as a group just keep on rising to the challenges in front of them.'

The gaffer continued:

'I'm not going to get carried away or go over the top, but I thought we did a fine job in the second half keeping our shape and limiting Bristol to only a few sights of goal.

'I'm delighted for the fans who came down here to support us tonight. While we weren't fluent all evening, I thought we gave them plenty to get excited about and - like us - they go home happy tonight.'

Watford are back at the Vic' this Saturday as they host Ipswich Town.

Let's face it - We need to secure Kuszczak for next season - he has been a massive force since joining and we look like a secure unit in defence with him behind the back 4.

He has been immense (bar the obvious debut blip!). I have serious doubts we can tempt him into a permanent move though - sadly.
