'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Dyche: 'We found it tough today'

Sean Dyche was honest in his assessment of today's draw at ailing Nottingham Forest, admitting the Hornets were not at their best.

Watford fell behind to a 19th-minute Garath McCleary strike with Forest on top.

However, a minute before half-time, Troy Deeney headed home Sean Murray's free-kick, which ultimately earnt the Hornets a point.

Speaking to the Official Site afterwords, Dyche said:

'Forest made a number of changes and seemed charged by the occasion. It was an emotional afternoon, for obvious reasons, so I don't think we could have been coming to The City Ground on a more difficult day this season.

'We weren't at our best for large parts of the game today. But there were still periods - like just before half-time leading up to our goal - when I felt we more than played our part.'

As ever, Dyche refused to blame outside factors, with Forerst playing for the first time since the tragic passing of owner Nigel Doughty.

'No, not at all. It's not right for me to bring those two things together. We fell below what I would call our normal quality, although I must stress that our fans that were here today would have seen no lack of effort at all.'

Watford host Forest's rivals Leicester City next, this Tuesday evening.
