'If It's Football, It's Vital'

OFFICIAL: Assombalonga agrees new deal

Highly-rated attacker Britt Assombalonga has signed a contract extension until the end of next season having returned from a loan spell with Wealdstone.

The 19 year-old forward was out of contract at the end of the current campaign but has penned a 12-month extension to his current deal.

Assombalonga will now move out on loan to Blue Square Premier outfit, Braintree Town on a month's youth-loan.

The move sees the Congo-born wideman-cum-forward take two steps up the football pyramid to try his hand with professional football for the first-time.

However, the former Community Trust player has been quick to thank Wealdstone manager Gordon Bartlett and the club's supporters for their impact on his development.

Speaking to The Official Site, Assombalonga said:

'I know the manager [Bartlett] said me and Connor [Smith, also on loan] had been doing really well, but that's because him, the players and the fans have taken us in as their own and let us enjoy our football.

'The manager is really close to the players; he's very interactive and I think that suits the players at the club. He makes you feel like you're really important and that's great for young lads like us.'

Assombalonga links up with Braintree leaving behind youth team captain Tommie Hoban and fellow forward Smith who are currently on loan at Grovsner Vale.

Good luck Britt & congratulations on the new deal!
