OFFICIAL: Sordell joins Bolton

Marvin Sordell has joined Premier League side Bolton Wanderers for a undisclosed fee believed to be in the region of £4m.

The England U21 international had been subject of speculation throughout the January Transfer Window with the likes of Fulham, Cardiff City, Blackburn Rovers and West Ham United believed to be chasing the 20 year-old forward.

Having been withdrawn from the team to face Millwall tonight at Bassini`s say-so, it quickly became clear that the Brent-born forward would be moving onto pastures news.

The Watford Observer revealed that at least one Championship and one Premier League club had lodged bids for Sordell.

Despite heavy speculation that Fulham were one of the clubs involved, it quickly emerged that Owen Coyle`s Bolton Wanderers were the top-flight side.

The fee is rumoured to be between £3m or £4m with further clauses potentially built in. Sordell has signed a three-and-a-half year contract at the Reebok Stadium.

Sordell burst onto the scene for Watford in 2010, scoring at Coventry City on the final day of the 2009/10 season, he had previously scored his first league goal during a six-game loan spell with League One Tramere Rovers earlier in the season.

Sordell marked his first professional appearance with a goal in the 2-1 reverse at Leeds United in the League Cup in August 2010.

The 2010/11 season saw Sordell break into the side as a first-team regular and the preferred partner to Danny Graham. The former Fulham youngster marked his first campaign as a first-team regular with 15 league and cup goals from 46 appearances.

With Graham gone, Sordell started the current campaign as the main man and after a stuttering start, hit 10 league and cup goals in 29 appearances.

Sordell also earned his first international caps this season, making his debut for Stuart Pearce`s side in the demolition of Azerbijan U21`s at Vicarage Road in September.

In total, Sordell made 55 league starts for the club, scoring 21 goals.

Good luck at Bolton, Marvin.

I think it's a fair price especially given Nicky Maynard - who is a much more established striker - was touted for £1.75m... Anyone know how much Sharp went for?

No idea on Sharp but I think we got a fair price for Sordell when you consider he has just 1.5 seasons-worth of experience behind him. Glad we didn't rush to replace him, look to the loan window for sensible addition now.
