OFFICIAL: Mirfin returns to Scunthorpe on-loan

Watford have allowed out-of-favour centre-back David Mirfin to return to Scunthorpe United on loan.

Iron boss Alan Knill had made no secret of the fact he wanted to bring the 26 year-old centre half back to Glandford Park during the Transfer Window.

With Adrian Mariappa now set to remain at Vicarage Road, Sean Dyche has allowed to former Huddersfield Town defender to return to the club from which he recruited him during the summer.

Mirfin has been a peripheral figure at Vicarage Road since his summer switch, making just three league starts for the Hornets.

The Sheffield-born stopper will remain with Scunthorpe until the end of the campaign.

Good luck David!

Thought he was a lot older than that, certainly my old man could turn quicker than him. Tom, just wanted to say that you have done a great job with all the info posted mate, many thanks

Certainly looks and plays like he's a lot older doesn't he! Thank you Andy, a lot of help from Chris whilst I was out the loop as well.

A strange 'signing' in a lot of ways and I think L1 is about his level tbh. I remember a lot of mates questionning the signing of a 'mans man' as SD put it saying we needed a solid no nonsense CB - not someone who the gaffer could have a beer with!
DrWatford
Hahah. Very true. I think with Bennett back, Nos on board, Taylor back soon & Tommie Hoban also on the books we are well, well set at CB. He will go sooner or later for proper.

I personally don't get the Bennett situation - he was quality last year when he stepped in and looks a real player. Clearly not Dyche's cup of tea but the Brentford fans I have spoken to think has a big future.
DrWatford
Yeah nor do I but I think it's indicative of Dyche's general stance on youth rather than just Bennett. Hence he brought in experience in Mirfin.
