Bassini answers supporters questions

Hornet's owner Laurence Bassini has this morning released his answers to fan submitted questions on the club's Official Site.

Aside from the expected spiel about doing the best for the club and dragging it kicking and screaming towards the Premier League there were a few points of interest -

- Bassini's financial people are currently putting together the paperwork necessary to pay the bondholders off in full so the club can actually say it's debt-free for once.

- The pitch will be sorted to some degree this summer: It will be re-laid, yes. As for the levelling works, they are still to be confirmed. We may feel that it's not needed but that decision will be made soon as well. But yes, a new pitch will be laid; we've already paid the deposit on the hire of the specialist equipment needed.

- The Harefield Academy will remain important and open: Yes, I am happy to put my name to that. It's vital to the future of this club.Kudos to apparently eternal optimist Stuart Davies, who described the £1m Brighton paid for sick-note Will Buckley as 'crap'! Laughing all the way to the bank is the phrase that springs to mind for me!

What do your think of Mr Bassini's answers? What would you ask as a follow-up?

As you know i have always maintained Bassini has been unfairly critised by supporters since he arrived. Personally i have been impressed by his back seat driving which i much prefer to the constant public airing that goes on at a club like QPR. This article only furthers my view that Bassini is in for the long haul because he wants to be. So far i think he has done a very good job in difficult circumstances.

Having spoken with Bas, I'd say he is an emotional guy and would probably talk before thinking, hence, he can't or won't chat at forums, that's not a criticism, but like you Chris I think this guy needs time and patience. He will get things wrong, like we all do, but he will learn from them and the club should at least be stable.

Agree that he needs time and patience absolutely. Supporters have needs too, and when we are used to speaking to our owner/chair/hierarchy on a yearly basis at the Fans' Forum, when that doesn't happen we feel violated. We should recognize that we are lucky to have that opportunity & I doubt many clubs provide it. However, it's equally important to remember that there were as good as no dissenting voices until he missed the first forum. I do feel for him with some of the questions he had to deal with as well - i.e. 'Did you spend the club's money on buying your Bentley?' - c'mon, get real.
