OFFICIAL: Walker joins Scunthorpe

Forgotten man Josh Walker ended his Watford hell this afternoon with a free transfer to Scunthorpe United.

The 22 year-old central midfielder had been on trial with the League One outfit ahead of a proposed move and has today completed his departure from the Vic'.

Walker signed in August 2010 on a free transfer from Middlesbrough but was quickly loaned out to Stevenage after failing to make a start under Malky Mackay.

His stage at Broadhall Way was cut short by a re-call before spending the rest of the 2010/11 season on loan at Northampton Town.

A long-awaited first start for the club came against Bristol Rovers in League Cup defeat this season before Walker returned to Stevenage on-loan again.

Once more his loan spell was cut short as Graham Westley elected to send the former England youth international back to WD18 after he fell down the pecking order.

It always seemed likely that the Newcastle-born midfielder would leave one way or another this January with his contact up in the summer, it was just a matter of tie.

Hopefully Josh will get some regular football now and start to re-establish his name.

In total, he made six substitute appearances in the league and one Carling Cup start for the club.

Good luck Josh!
