OFFICIAL: Nosworthy re-joins Watford

Watford have bolstered their backline with the permanent capture of Sunderland centre-half, Nyron Nosworthy.

The 31 year-old recently completed a 13-game loan spell at Vicarage Road, impressing hugely.

However, a defensive crisis at Sunderland had put Nosworthy's future with the Hornets in doubt.

But, following strong rumours earlier in the day, the Brixton-born Jamaican international has arrived at Watford for good, signing a two-and-a-half year deal for an undisclosed fee.

Speaking to The Official Site, the former Gillingham defender revealed his delight at returning to WD18:

'It feels like home here.

'Credit to the manager here for the chance he gave me to play - and for helping make this deal happen.

'I'm also grateful to Sunderland for letting me get on with playing first-team football, which is what I need at this stage in my career.'

Hornet's gaffer Sean Dyche was equally pleased with his first capture of the January Transfer Window:

'I think this an outstanding piece of business for our club, considering everything remains within the financial constraints we have here.

'Steve Bruce and Martin O'Neill have both been tremendously helpful towards this club, and that's something we should all recognise while we reflect on this great development for our squad.'

Nosworthy should make his second 'Orns debut in the Sky clash against Reading this Saturday tea time.

Welcome back, Nyron!

That's good news, but does that open the door for Mariappa to move?

I certainly hope not. More so David Mirfin if anyone? We now have five centre-backs if you include Dale Bennett who's out on loan with Brentford - something has to give.
