Ben Foster returns to Watford

Manchester United goalkeeper Ben Foster has returned to Vicarage Road for another season on loan.

The deal had been initially agreed last month but had been in considerably doubt in recent weeks due to West Bromwich Albion`s reluctance to let first-choice 'keeper Tomasz Kuszczak join Manchester United.

However, the two parties today agreed a deal that sees Kuszczak join Manchester United on a season-long loan that may lead to a permanent deal with United pairing of Luke Steele and Paul McShane going in the opposite direction.

"I was delighted to get the call yesterday giving me the all-clear to come down and sign all the paperwork," Foster told the club`s official site. "Now I'm really looking forward to a year in the Premier League with Watford."

Sir Alex Ferguson is believed to have earmarked Foster - who he signed from Stoke City last year - as 36-year-old Edwin Van der Sar`s long-term replacement. The Leamington-Spa-born stopper proved to be a pivotal part of Watford`s promotion-winning campaign and was placed on stand-by for England`s World Cup squad.

The popular 23-year-old is likely to play in Watford`s pre-season friendly against Italian outfit Chievo on Sunday.

What a signing! Forget Ballack or Shevchenko - Ben Foster is the signing of the season. The Horns are staying up

Give it two years and Ben Foster will be England's Number One. He is already a better goalkeeper than James, Green, Carson and Kirkland.
