Dyche laughs off Smith rumours

Hornet's boss Sean Dyche has this morning laughed off rumours that the club are about to re-sign Tommy Smith on-loan.

The QPR winger-cum-forward has been forced down the pecking order at Loftus Road further this week with the loan capture of Manchester United's Federico Macheda.

Macheda's inclusion meant there was no place on the bench for Smith, 31, prompting rumours that the two-time Hornet's favourite could be on his way back to Vicarage Road.

Speaking to The Watford Observer, Dyche denied the rumours whilst leaving the door open:

"If you noticed he missed one game, that was the first one he hasn`t been in for ages at QPR and all of a sudden he gets linked with us - it was truly amazing.

"You can never say never on these things but there`s no actual moment or connection where it`s all going to fall into place.

"Who knows but there`s certainly nothing to be read into that - at this moment anyway.'

So there you have it. It looks unlikely the popular Hemel Hempstead-born forward will be back any time soon. Watford will surely be in the market for a wide player though with Michael Kightly no longer at the club.

Would be great if it could ever happen, but I'm not sure it's gonna any time soon..
