Mackay told to keep quiet

Former Watford gaffer Malky Mackay has revealed that he was not allowed contractually to release a statement having left the club over the summer.

However, the lack of a statement to praise the club upon departure disappointed Watford fans even more.

"I am hearing that people were upset that I didn`t make a statement but contractually I wasn`t able to make a statement at the time about how good these people are.'

Mackay continued:

"It is good that this week has come and questions are asked because now I can talk about certain parts of it.

"I had my reason for leaving, that I won`t go into, but there are still good people at this football club.'

It certainly makes you wonder what Mackay's reasons for leaving were...

In his interview in the watford observer he said he enjoyed greatly his close working relationship with Graham Taylor and Julien Winter. Reading between the lines he was unsure whether he wanted to work with a new management team having got so close knit and gone through so much with the previous one.

It's got to be that or he was told he would have to sell Graham. I expect the former though as it was hard to see DG staying.
