'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Watford 0-0 Doncaster Rovers

WATFORD COLLECTED another point on the road to survival at Doncaster's Keepmoat Stadium this afternoon.

Sean Dyche made one change with skipper John Eustace returning in place of the suspended Jonathan Hogg. Academy 'keeper Jack Bonham stepped up to the bench with Rene Gilmartin out on loan.

Doncaster handed debuts to new boys Herald Goulon, Habib Beye and Marc Antoine Fortune.

Former Blackburn Rovers winger El Hadji Diouf nearly provided a chance for Doncaster when he flashed a low drive across goal.

Watford's response came through Mark Yeates who saw his dipping shot from distance palmed over by Carl Ikeme.

The best chance of a dour game though, fell to Donny forward Billy Sharp, who somehow hooked over the on-rushing Scott Loach only for Carl Dickinson to clear off the line.

Hardy a classic, but an invaluable point and clean sheet all the same.

It's Bristol City up next at Vicarage Road which will be a tough clash; Derek McInnes has got the Robins back on form and the West Country outfit beat league leaders Southampton 2-0 at Ashton Gate on Saturday.

Doncaster Rovers: Ikeme; O'Connor, Hird, Ilunga, Beye; Stock (Hayter), Gillett, Goulon (Bennett), Diouf (Barnes); Sharp & Fortune.

Subs not used: Sullivan (gk) and Dumbuya.

Watford: Loach; Hodson, Nosworthy, Mariappa (c), Dickinson; Yeates, Eustace (c), Buaben, Kightly; Iwelumo (Deeney) & Sordell (Beattie).

Subs not used: Bonham (gk); Doyley, Jenkins & Mirfin.

Referee: Mr Tierney

Attendance: 8 389
