'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Bassini cancels again

Hornet's owner Laurence Bassini has this afternoon announced that the proposed radio phone-in show on BBC3CR will not be going ahead.

Bassini has already failed to attend the club's Fans Forum earlier this month and had scheduled a special phone-in for supporters on BBC Three Counties Radio.

In a statement on the Official Site Bassini explained why he would fail once more to talk to supporters:

'I'd like to sincerely apologise to all Watford fans for this evening having to be postponed,' said Bassini.

I have had all the best intentions when it comes to both this and the Fans Forum before it.

I want to do the right thing and talk directly to supporters but I don't feel well enough to do that,' he added.

I really wanted to do this as soon after the Fans Forum as possible - and I thought that a week or so would be long enough for me to fully recover.

So now, to make sure that I've had a chance to get properly back on an even keel, I'm going to ask BBC Three Counties to re-arrange the phone-in for some time early in the New Year.'

You seemed well enough to talk to me on Saturday!

If he is as ill as he claims, he should have arranged for later. Lying in bed on phone to 3CR would not have killed him either.

LB is a ****... I know he wouldn't turn up.. Even if the Muppet turned up to the phone in show he would have just lied through he's teeth... Us supporters can't trust this man... I AM fuming..... Never have supporters been so cast aside by the owner of our football club...
watford1881
Belive it or not, we have had far worse an owner than Bas, he has put his money where his mouth is. Jim Bonser, Jack Petchy, Lord Ashcroft to name recently. I'm not defending him, as wfc123 will confirm with with recent info supplied, but as owners go, there have been a lot worse.
ANDY710
He is by no means our worst owner, correct. He will still have to go some to be looked upon favorably in the future. So far he is a notch behind the Russo's on the grounds he hasn't tried to put us into admin!
wfc123
He lies that makes him the worst... Plus saying he would not finance because of what GT said makes him more like a child then a man... If he just came out & said he's gonna do things his way I'd have far more respect for him...
watford1881
If he keeps letting fans & media down they'll lose interest in him... In turn us too...
watford1881
What has he lied about? I asked him directly about the threat to withdraw the funding from the club, he categorically denies making that statement! He pointed out that he would lose his investment if he did so, which he currently says is around the 10 million figure.. He never spoke to the Watford Observer.. i am just repeating what he said to me
ANDY710
As observer owl has tweeted in recent days Bassini is ill, and i wouldn't expect him to turn out in such a condition. However, the late postponments of these evenings are very infuriating!
