Bassini issues funding threat

Owner Laurence Bassini has this morning revealed he will withhold the 1m funding promised to keep the club running if Graham Taylor does not apologize.

Taylor made strong remarks at Tuesday's fans' forum about Bassini's non-attendance and having released a statement to apologize for his no-show, Bassini has since tendered his resignation from the board.

This morning, developments took another twist however as Bassini announced his intentions to withdraw the 1m funding the club needs in running costs if Taylor did not apologize.

Clearly the intention to resign was a ploy to smoke Taylor out of his hole 'for the good of Watford' and let Bassini continue his one-man mission.

According to the Watford Observer, Bassini has since said he will 'strip' Taylor of his role as chairman, though the Hornet's legend would remain on the board.

This move which would leave us without a chief exective, chairman or co-operative owner on the board of directors - David Fransen and Stuart Timperley being the only ones left if all this goes through.
