Watford made it two pre-season victories out of two as an experienced side got the better of League 2 outfit Wycombe at The Causeway Stadium.
Hornets` boss Aidy Boothroyd made wholesale changes to the side that defeated Northwood the previous night, selecting eight players who started the Championship play-off final in May.
But Watford again found themselves a goal down in the opening minutes when Tommy Mooney 'knocked in` Chris Palmer`s free-kick. Watford were back in the game on five minutes when Matthew Spring levelled the scores.
Malky Mackay then put the Hornets in the lead following a blunder from Chairboys` goalkeeper Legzding.
Boothroyd substituted ten players at the interval leaving only trialist Joseph Desire-Job on the pitch. Summer signings Chris Powell and Damien Francis donned the famous yellow shirt for the first time.
Eight minutes into the second period 'keeper Richard Lee brought Watford legend Tommy Mooney inside the box and gifted the Buckinghamshire outfit a penalty. Mooney, a fans favourite during his seven-year tenure at Vicarage Road, beat Lee from 12 yards.
Marlon King, the Championship`s top goalscorer of the 2005/06 campaign, won the game for the Golden Boys only minutes later when curling the ball past Wanderers` goalie Frank Talia.
Watford`s Premiership preparations continue on Saturday when the Hornets travel to Meadow Park to play Boreham Wood. The 2006 Championship play-off winners then make the trip to Denmark to face Danish top-flight outfit AC Horsens on Monday.
