'If It's Football, It's Vital'

OFFICIAL: Yeates is a Hornet

Sean Dyche has this afternoon added Sheffield United winger Mark Yeates to his squad for an undisclosed fee.

The former Tottenham Hotspur trainee arrives on a two-year contract for a fee that is rumoured to be between £200k and £300k.

Watford could end up paying further installments dependent on appearances for the 26 year-old Irishman.

Speaking to the Official Site, manager Sean Dyche said:

'I'm thrilled to have an effervescent wide player coming into the fold here.

'He's got ability and talent, and will be a big part of helping us move forward as a team.

'I'm sure he's looking forward to the challenge of not only earning his place in the side but also delivering consistently good performances.'

Yeates started his career at White Hart Lane featured just three times in the league for the North Londonders before joining Colchester in 2007, initially on loan.

Impressive in Essex, Yeates joined Middlesbrough in 2009 under Gareth Southgate but switched to Bramall Lane the same season before falling out of favour under Gary Speed and latterly Mickay Adams last season as the Blades slipped into League One.

A quick and tricky winger, capable of playing on either flank, Yeates is just what the doctor ordered for the 'Orns.

hope he delivers better for you than he did for us. inconsistent and a bit of attitude about him, thats why speed and adams didnt want him. if you have paid 200k for him we got a good deal.

Weren't we after Yeates before he joined Boro in the good ol' Boothroyd days? Seemed to remember then that he is a dead ball specialist and a decent all round winger. Good, solid signing.

Now you mention it, I think we were. I always thought he was decent enough; within our ability and price range essentially. Hopefully regular football will bring the best out of him.

Nice to see some incoming players instead of all the outgoers....
