Watford appoint coaching duo

Sean Dyche today began the re-structuring of his backroom staff with the appointment of Ian Woan as his assistant and Tony Loughlan as his first-team coach.

The departures of David Kerslake, Joe McBride and Richard Collinge earlier in the day had left the Hornet's backroom staff looking decidedly small but Dyche has moved quickly to bring in his own men.

Woan's appointment had been expected after it was reported earlier in the week that Portsmouth had given Watford permission to hold talks with the former Nottingham Forest midfielder.

Forty-one year-old Loughlan arrives from Ipswich Town where he was in Roy Keane's coaching set up. Another former Forest team-mate of Dyche's, Loughlan was also part of the set-up at Sunderland when Keane was manager there.

Assuming Malky Mackay doesn't return again to raid the club for his previous coaching staff, Dyche will now turn his attentions to constructing a medical department with head of medical Collinge having departed for south Wales today.

Welcome Vicarage Road Ian and Tony.

Collinge has done well for watford, sorry to see him go, coaching staff all have pedigree, will be interesting to see how the team play.

Hopefully we stick to the football style we have fashioned for ourselves in the last two and a half years. Re. Collinge; bad news - our injury record was very good under the Andy Rolls/Richard Collinge partnership. Could've done without losing them both.

I like Woan - Pompey played some really attractive footie at times last season with a number of kids in the side so this is a good appointment. Collinge is a loss but Watford in his heart?
