Kiernan leaves Watford

Defender-cum-midfielder Rob Kiernan has officially left Vicarage Road on a free transfer today.

The 20 year-old Irishman had been offered a new two-year contract at the Vic' but on 'slightly reduced terms'.

However, having made just two substitute appearances during his Hornet's career, Kiernan elected to leave WD18 in order to further his chances of playing first-team football.

An Eire youth cap, Kiernan spent much of this season on-loan, taking in temporary spells with Yeovil Town, Bradford City and Wycombe Wanderers. He also spent part of last season on-loan with SPL side Kilmarnock.

I personally admire the young man for taking such a large stride out of his comfort zone in order to play regular football. The security of two-year deal must have been very hard for a young player to turn down so fair play to him.

Good luck Rob.
