Cardiff Refused Permission To Speak To Mackay

Just before midday came the news that had been in the air since the beginning of last week. Watford have confirmed Cardiff City have made an official approach for manager Malky Mackay who was rumoured to be the board's number one choice for the vacant position since former manager Dave Jones was relieved of his duties.

However, Hornets owner Laurence Bassini has refused them permission to speak to the Hornets supremo and reiterated his position on the Mackay saga. In a statement on the official website Bassini stated 'We don't want Malky to leave Watford and we will do everything in our power to keep him at Vicarage Road'

Rejected the approach, of course that dosen't stop MM walking, but it does test the resolve of Bassini. I guess it boils down to how much MM has faith in the future with WFC!

Whether its true or not, it was being reported late Wed eve that Bassini was now consulting other board members of the MM approach. You will suddenly become very unpopular Mr Bassini, if you let Malky go. The jury's still out on you anyway...

Mangers come & go... If MM wants away then let him go... We only want people here who want to be here... MM it's up to you.. Deal or no deal...

There is lots of pressure on cardiff to get promotion, I don't think it's the right move for Malky. He has done an excellent job for us and i think he will move on in the right direction should he want to stay. Less pressure better the results in my opinion.

I agree with hornetofthehumber. mackay might beed to fiancial insecurity, but I think the going's on at Cardifff are a birdge too far. He'd be better served waiting to join a more stable club. I wouldn't begrudge him if he went though. Also agree with oldyella re. Bassini - he could make a massive statement of intent and win some big brownie points here by holding onto MM. The reported compensation figure is 300k - we got 500k for Rodgers right? He was only here eight months, it stands to reason we are owed a lot more.

So they have acceded to Cardiff's request after all. No doubt MM will go. Bassini will certainly not be popular with me. Can't help but wonder if GT might leave too. Depends how Bassini is playing it with the board?? Julian W's sudden departure has made me jittery.
