DeMerit and Bangura extend contracts
Jay DeMerit and Al Bangura have both signed one-year extensions to their Watford contracts.
Former Northwood Town defender DeMerit - who capped his spectacular rise up the football ranks when scoring Watford`s first goal in the 3-0 defeat of Leeds United in the Championship play-off final in May - recently signed a Watford deal until 2008.
However, Watford boss Aidy Boothroyd has rewarded the American for his rock-solid defensive displays with a further year`s deal.
Tough-tackling midfielder Bangura featured 25 times as a sub and made 12 starts for the Golden Boys last term but the 18-year-old is likely to be pressing Gavin Mahon for the holding midfield role next term.
The Sierra Leone star has already become a firm favourite with the Watford faithful and looks certain to have a big future at Vicarage Road.
The duo join club captain Gavin Mahon in extending their Vicarage Road contracts until 2009.
