Hornets reject Albion bid for Graham

Hornets reject Albion bid for Graham

Watford have tonight rejected a £2.5m offer from Premier League outfit West Brom for their top-scorer Danny Graham.

The Gateshead-born goal-getter had been subject of an offer equal to QPR's earlier in the day, but according to The Watford Observer the club have quickly turned down the offer.

Queens Park Rangers are believed to have previously offered the same amount with the same response from the club.

Also believed to be in the hunt for the Championship's top-scorer and PFA Fans Player of the Season are Ipswich Town and hometown club, Newcastle United.

The chase is hotting up now for SuperDan, but so far so good. The club are clearly sticking to their guns on this one and have made it very obvious that the Geordie forward won't be leaving on anyone's terms except their own.

Good on 'em!

It is good that the offers are coming early, nothing worse than a last minute departure. Clubs are teasing the water, I hope the move benefits all parties and it is not a panic sell.

Definitely. The sooner he moves & we get in a replacement the better.

Hey Tom, any players in mind to take his place?

He'll go for well under value.. That's what comes from people knowing we're skint...

Wellllll. I've heard QPR and West Brom moot HH/Hulse & Cox as possible player + cash deals. I wouldn't say no to SuperKev (free from Brum now), maybe Ryan Lowe or Nicky Ajose (loanee United) who both did very well at Bury last year? Thinking down the cheap route here!

The problem is 1881, most clubs are skint. James Vaughn has gone to Norwich for 2.5 mill. He managed 9 goals for palace. I'd say 3 to 3.5 with add on's and I think that won't be bad business.

I was gonna say I like Cox, but some how it dosent read right! HH is on a free from July. Mk dons have decent striker, Morison at millwall, who has just had a transfer request turned down. I do think there is quality in the lower leagues and I'm sure there are players who would look at us as a great stepping stone, and if the club get a couple of good years and then sell for a good profit, then that has to be the way to go.

Good point re. Vaughan. No-one sells top-drawer strikers so clubs have to gamble. I think we can demand quite a bit more for Graham and a club WILL pay it because he has previous for scoring goals. Re. Steve Morison, I think he will end up bottom end Premier League this summer. Powell at MK Dons is decent. We will go lower league or free shopping but Malky has proven a decent hand in the market so he has my backing.
