Henderson joins York City

Striker Liam Henderson has joined Blue Square Bet Premier side York City on a two-year contract with his current deal set to expire in a month`s time.

The 21 year-old forward has been unable to break into the Hornet's first-team on a regular basis spending the season out on-loan at Colchester, Aldershot and Rotherham.

Gateshead-born Henderson was told last week that he would not be offered a new contract at the club having arrived from Notts County in 2006.

In 44 professional appearances (36 as a sub), Henderson has failed to score his first Football League goal but will be hoping to break his duck at Boothham Cresent where he today declared the ambition of the club as his reason for signing:

'I came down to meet the manager last week.I think what sold it most was the style of football and the ambition of the club and the manager and from there I knew I wanted to sign.

'I'm at that stage in my career now where I need to play games. The challenge of playing competitive games for a whole season and score goals is what I came here to do.' Henderson told the BBC Football

All in all, Henderson made 18 league appearances for the Hornets without a single start or goal. Good luck in the future Liam!
