Watford bid for Luton winger

Watford bid for Luton winger

Luton Town winger Carlos Edwards claims that he has been subject of a bid from local rivals Watford.

Edwards could become the third former Luton player to join the playing staff at deadly rivals Watford after goalkeeper Alec Chamberlain and midfielder Matthew Spring.

However, neither of the aforementioned made the direct move form Bedfordshire to Hertfordshire and Edwards could be the first to do so in a number of years if he decides to join Premiership Watford.

"They (Watford) did put in a bid, I can't say the amount," the Trinidad and Tobago international told Sky Sports News.

"The manager did say they are interested and put a bid on the table, but he didn't clarify exactly what is the sum. I'm leaving it up to him. They are showing an interest, but I've not spoken to Watford," said Edwards who scored a consolation goal for the Hatters in their 2-1 home defeat to Watford in January. "They are speaking to the club and I'm waiting to see what my manager does for me."

The wideman also revaled that Hatters boss Mike Newell informed him of interest from Birmingham City after he represented his country in their opening game of the 2006 World Cup: "After the Sweden game he said Birmingham were interested. He hasn't heard anything since then."

The 27-year-old added: "I'm leaving it up to the manager and whoever is involved at the club to try to see what is best for me."

Perhaps it`s a move to Vicarage Road?
