What does the future hold for - Matty Whichelow?

With the season winding down, it`s the time of year players, managers and chief executives sit down and decide on the futures of the playing staff. With that in mind, and coupled with the Hornet`s tight financial belt,VitalWatford will be taking a look at those who are out of contract, on loan or out of favour at the Vic` ahead of the Summer.

Today it`s the turn of Matty Whichelow...

If there`s one player on our list who`s future looks fairly certain then it`s attacking midfielder Matty Whichelow. It`s been a brilliant breakthrough season for the first-year pro` and Whichelow certainly looks to have a bright career ahead of him in WD18.

In only a handful of starts Whichelow has shown enough to suggest he has a future at the club and at this level and will be looking to break into the first-team more regularly next season. He`s determined, he`s hard-working and has certainly shown nerves of steel chipping it with three good goals and two crucial one`s at Scunthorpe and at home to Preston.

I for one would certainly be amazed if Whichelow is not handed a new, several-year deal in the coming days or weeks.
