What does the future hold for - Tom Aldred?

With the season winding down, it`s the time of year players, managers and chief executives sit down and decide on the futures of the playing staff. With that in mind, and coupled with the Hornet`s tight financial belt ,VitalWatford will be taking a look at those who are out of contract, on loan or out of favour at the Vic` ahead of the Summer.

Today it`s the turn of Tom Aldred...

It`s been a fairly inauspicious start to life at Vicarage Road for centre-half Tom Aldred, but the Scottish youth cap was never truly expected to make his breakthrough this season. Subsequently Aldred has spent much of the season out on loan with Stockport County where by all accounts he has done well in a poor team.

As well as having time on his side, Aldred is also lucky that there are not a plethora of centre-halves at the club. With Aidy Mariappa, Martin Taylor and Dale Bennett the most senior centre-backs at the club, the likes of Eddie Oshodi and Aldred wait in the wings for chances that will inevitably come their way with such a small squad.

One expects that Aldred will continue his football education out on loan once more next season with a crack at a first team spot in the pipeline within the next two seasons.
