What does the future hold for - Rob Kiernan?

With the season winding down, it`s the time of year players, managers and chief executives sit down and decide on the futures of the playing staff. With that in mind, and coupled with the Hornet`s tight financial belt ,VitalWatford will be taking a look at those who are out of contract, on loan or out of favour at the Vic` ahead of the Summer.

Today it`s the turn of Rob Kiernan...

Something of a forgotten man at Vicarage Road, Rob Kiernan is in that same bracket as Liam Henderson in that he turned pro a couple of years ago now but is yet to make an impression on the first-team. Whilst the likes of Marvin Sordell and Ross Jenkins have forced their way straight into first-team reckoning once pro` it`s not that easy for everyone.

Currently out on-loan with League Two high-fliers Wycombe Wanderers, good things have been said about the Eire youth cap by boss Gary Waddock but Kiernan has made just two starts in an injury-hampered spell with the Buckinghamshire club.

In his three years with the club, Kiernan has made two fleeting F.A Cup appearances from the bench - one in January 2008 under the guidance of Brendan Rodgers, during which he was at fault for an Eagles goal and the other in this season`s 4th Round defeat by Brighton where he mustered nothing of note in his six-minute cameo.

For players like Kiernan and Henderson, the budget will dictate their futures. For clubs with little money the need to keep on young players can either become necessity as they fill out the shallow squad or victims of the lack of money available to 'gamble` on average kids.

At 20, and on meagre wages, another year can`t hurt, but if it`s at the expense of someone younger of preventing money being spent on someone else then cheerio.Watford Appearances: 0(+0) 0 Goals

Season Appearances: (On loan at Yeovil Town) 1(+2) 0 Goals, (On loan at Bradford City) 6 (+2) 0 Goals, (On loan at Wycombe Wanderers) 2 (+0) 0 Goals.
