Watford release statement following trouble

Following the unrest at yesterday's 2-0 defeat by Queens Park Rangers, Watford FC have this afternoon released a statement condemning the behaviour of certain supporters and outlining their plans of action for the future.

A large group of R's fans were allowed to stand together in the furthest block of the Lower Rous stand at the Vicarage Road end whilst further pockets were openly sitting in areas amongst the home support.

There was also an incident in the middle of the Rookery whilst a good number entered the field of play at full-time.

Watford FC hierarchy including new owner Laurence Bassini were amongst those who contributed to THE FOLLOWING STATEMENT

In the statement the club accept their responsibility for the trouble and dispel the rumour that they had arranged for a number of Hoops supporters to be seated together in the Lower Rous.

The club also rightfully lament those supporters who bought extra tickets before selling them knowingly to visiting fans.

Plans are being put into action to review the club's 'tolerance policy' whilst the statement also says it will work closely with the police in order to identify and take the appropriate action against those who entered the field of play.

Not a good day for the club, but not something that was unforeseen - the best that can come of this is that the same mistakes are not repeated in the future.
