What does the future hold - Liam Henderson?

With the season winding down, it`s the time of year players, managers and chief executives sit down and decide on the futures of the playing staff. With that in mind, and coupled with the Hornet`s tight financial belt ,VitalWatford will be taking a look at those who are out of contract, on loan or out of favour at the Vic` ahead of the Summer.

Today it`s the turn of Liam Henderson...

The future of any professional striker who has failed to net after a handful of career starts and a good number of substitute appearances should be fairly clear-cut and that goes for Liam Henderson, currently on loan at Rotherham United.

Granted the lanky Gateshead-born forward has never started a game for Watford but he`s clocked up a darn sight more minutes for the club than Josh Walker without ever showing anything that suggests he has a future ahead of him in professional football. Loan spells at Hartlepool United, Colchester United, Rotherham United and Aldershot Town have all proved fruitless - if that isn`t an indicator of Henderson`s ability, I don`t know what is.

Of course it is hard to impress when you`re hardly playing but Marvin Sordell proved in the early part of the campaign he was capable of making the step up and so carved out a space in the side for himself - Henderson has failed miserably, in spite of our financial restrictions he`s never been an option.

Now 21, goals against Stevenage reserves just don't cut it anymore and I`ll be amazed if he pens a new contract this summer.

Watford Appearances: 0 (+18) 0 Goals

Season Appearances: (On loan at Colchester Utd) 0 (+6) 0 Goals, (On loan at Aldershot Town) 0 (+0) 0 Goals, (On loan at Rotherham United 5 (+5) 0 Goals.
