Jewell on Damien Francis` departure
Wigan boss Paul Jewell has admitted that he didn`t want to sell Jamaican international Damien Francis, but says that the midfielder leaves with his best wishes.
"Damien's a great pro who never gave me anything less than maximum commitment on the field and off it," Jewell told Wigan`s official site.
"He goes with our best wishes."
The Latics' boss also echoed Boothroyd`s sentiments of how professional the midfielder is: "We gave him permission to speak with Adrian Boothroyd when Watford came in for him. When a player is so professional in his conduct, I would always allow him the choice to do what he wants if a club makes an enquiry.
"We didn't want to sell him because we do not have the biggest squad here, but I respect him too much as a person to stand in his way," Jewell said of the player who he signed for £2 million from Norwich City a year ago.
"He goes to Watford with our best wishes."
