Saracens may return next season

Saracens may return next season

Saracens have revealed that they may yet return to tenancy at Vicarage Road as planning permission for the Copthall site in Barnet has been delayed.

The two parties had activated the break clause in the contract ahead of this summer though chief executive Edward Griffiths has confirmed that he does not expect work to be completed at Copthall until next January.

With this in mind the men in black are looking for temporary residence for next season with Wembley Stadium also in consideration:

'The state of play at the moment is we're expecting our planning application to be determined sometime in June, which would enable us to have the stadium ready for Premiership rugby in January 2012.' Griffiths told BBC3CR.

'This obviously presents us with the challenge of finding somewhere to play for the first part of next season, maybe seven or eight matches.'

They are an established rugby team with a good support, as long as the rent coming in to wfc is on better terms than the previous contract and it pays to refurb the pitch, then let it happen.

Agreed. It's all revenue. Someone I spoke to connected with the club once said that it's not the rugby players messing it up, it's the footballers as they kick lumps out of it, but that having two teams playing on it contributes to the general wear and tear.
