Mackay escapes ban

Malky Mackay will not be in the stands for the clash with Coventry after replacement referee Gary Sutton sent him to the stands against Middlesbrough.

The 'sending-off' could have resulted in a touchline ban for the Scot however the referee's report did not cite the incident and so Mackay is free to take up his usual spot in the technical area after the international break.

Tony Mowbray and Middlesbrough had pleaded the innocence of the Hornet's gaffer after he accidentally stepped onto the pitch in the dying seconds to trap a dead ball.

He couldn't be cited, as there is technically not an offence been committed, perhaps a word with the boy, sorry referee, suggesting he rereads the rule book.
