Hornets leave Football League awards empty-handed

Watford were left empty-handed last night at the annual Football League awards ceremony, that despite picking up three nominations.

Will Buckley had been nominated for the 'Young Player of the Season' award whilst the team that battered Millwall 6-1 had been nominated for the 'Team Performance of the Season' award.

Young full-back Adam Thompson was amongst the nominees for the 'Apprentice of the Season award'.

Queens Park Rangers talisman won the big one, scooping the 'Championship Player of the Season award' whilst young Ipswich forward beat Buckley to the young player equivalent.

The 'Team Performance of the Season' award was handed to League Two new-boys Stevenage who turned Newcastle United over in the F.A Cup.

Finally, Northern Irish cap Thompson saw Wickham grab his second gong of the night, taking the 'Apprentice of the Season' award.

Never mind boys - the only silverware that we want is that Play Off trophy! We can but hope!

The biggest joke of the evening was that Grant Holt made the shortlist for best championship player and Danny Graham didn't!

Wickham is s**t.. He's playing too much for a young player.. I'd give him 5 years before he gets burnt out... Danny Graham is the best player outside the prem because 1) he doesn't sulk like that QPR muppet. 2) he doesn't cheat like all the other three.. 3) Danny is by far the top scorer in the league. All this from the team which were favs to go down.. All the big knobs know nothing... Like we didn't know this already.. WHAT A JOKE... Ha ha..

Have to agree with most those points. Taraabt is a show pony - I would not want him at Watford because he's greedy, he cheats and I think he would be dreadful for team spirit. It's ridiculous Graham was missed off the list.

It is surprising that DG didn't make the list, but anything that is organized by the FA, is usually tosh.. As for Wickham, he is a talent, would love at watford.
