Townsend loan terminated

Watford have this evening sent Spurs loanee Andros Towsend back to his parent club after a disappointing month spent on loan at Vicarage Road.

The young winger made two starts for the Goldenboys and one sub appearance having arrived on a five month loan in January.

'We're very grateful to Harry Redknapp and the Tottenham staff for their help in arranging this loan.

'It is a shame it hasn't worked out for either us or Andros and we wish him well for the future.'
Malky Mackay said to the Official Site

Townsend failed to make the squad for this evening's 3-1 defeat at home to Bristol City and the announcement followed shortly.

One wonders how much this is down to Townsend flattering to deceive and how much this is down to an incoming loan in the midfield department - Jordon Mutch anyone? It's how rumours start!

Good luck Andros!

Not just rumours. The WO reports that they understand Watford have made an approach and are interested in Mutch!

Excellent! I hope he sees the sense in coming back to a club he knows if said rumours are true!

Bit surprised by this - Townsend was looking great for us at Ipswich and we were sad to see him go. Was he really that poor for your boys?
Darren C
I personally never saw him play for us. But commentators said he wasn't up to much. Played well the one time I did see him live - Col U Vs. Leyton Orient last season.

gutted he's gone, I think he's a great player even though his work rate isn't up with the rest of the team. Mutch will be a hornet again by the end of the week. I know his agent who said he'll be back here anytime soon.

I bloomin' hope your contact is correct! Good player who we have missed greatly since January.
