'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Watford Rumour Mill #4

Boss Malky Mackay has accepted that Andrew Taylor is not going to become a Golden Boy any time soon.

Speaking to the The Watford Observer Mackay said he expected 'something extraordinary' to happen if the Middlesbrough left-back is to join the Hornets on a permanent basis.

"We made a bid and we have not heard anything back, so unless something dramatic happens in the next six or seven hours, then that one has been knocked on the head.'

Mackay also confirmed that if former loanees Jordon Mutch and Taylor do not return to Vicarage Road then he will seek alternative replacements for the duo.

"If we are able to financially then I would like the two guys - Andrew Taylor and Jordon Mutch - to come back.

"If it is financially viable for us to bring them back then we will try to. If it is not, then we will look somewhere else."

The gaffer continued: "No it doesn`t look like Jordon will be coming back at the moment. But we need players in the building. I have a very small and young squad.

"...the lack of depth we have at the moment so Danny`s arrival does not change the situation with Jordon at all.

"He has a contractual situation which needs to be sorted out. When it is, then he and Birmingham will decide what happens."
