Hornet's add Andros

Hornet's add Andros

Two in as many days for Watford who have this afternoon signed Tottenham Hotspur's young winger, Andros Townsend.

The 19 year-old was heavily linked with a loan move to Vicarage Road earlier in the season and has today made the move to WD18.

Townsend will remain a Hornet until the end of the 2010/11 campaign and adds extra competition for places in the wide areas alongside Will Buckley and Don Cowie.

Making his debut for Spurs in the F.A Cup earlier in the month Townsend scored a beauty as the North Londoners beat Charlton to progress to the fourth round.

A nippy, exciting winger previously on loan at Ipswich Town this season Townsend has also been on loan in the Football League with MK Dons and Leyton Orient in recent seasons.

Harry Redknapp has a 24 hour re-call clause on the winger for the duration of his stay with the Hornets.

Welcome Andros.

Frankly I think Roy Keane was mad not to give this boy enough chances at Ipswich. He found a lot of admirers with us and many were very disappointed to see him recalled to Tottenham simply because the manager wasn't giving him the games he deserved at Portman Road. I'm sure he'll fly with your boys - just don't let him score against us in March...(!)

More attacking options, plus strength in depth...still think there will be more signings, but will there be any out goings?

Very good to get two top young players in from the prem that are held in high regard by there fans and managers respectively. It certainly looks like MM vision for this club to showcase up and coming talent is on the money. However My only concern is were MM going to fit them in. Marvelous marvin and danny graham got a great partnership going bagged plenty of goals between them. troy has been sitting on the bench almost since his switch from wallsall when he has had the chance has made a good account of himself works hard and is great cover. Gavin massey looks like another marvelous in the making so we have no striker issues Can not see sense to bring in weeman AS we just dont need a striker- Andros we could do with an all out winger that would be a great addition to the squad bucks and cowie have been effective but an all out winger which don is not andros would add strength to the squad the only problem is if this boy is as good as they say he is we got no hope of signing andros or weeman on a full contract basis-which raises the question Do we really need them-we have thriving youngsters coming through the accademy at harefield which we have seen the likes of whichellow-piero-sordell- to name a few that want that first team jersey and have signed a full time contract because there getting the oppourtunity that many prem youngster's dont get-To play first team football and show what there made of.My only concern my point really is were MM going on this one-do we need loan signings at present. I dont think we do the squad looks very healthy the kids that have worked hard signed a proffesional contract proved to be very good at this level is the way forward. No doubt loan signings will help in the short term can understand bringing in loan signings if a team is in a difficult position - the facts are we are not in any difficulties and our lads deserve there spot-

Don't see anyone being 'got rid of' Andy, more a case of players 'having to be sold' - i.e Graham, Cowie etc. Would like a left-back of course, hopefully Taylor will join. Although I agree with all the points you raise Dez, I think the signings are simply a case of adding numbers. We cannot afford to buy rotation/backup players so we have to loan youngsters, I think MM is just getting ahead of the game by getting them for 6 months now as opposed to 3 months at a later date when he needs an instant replacement.
