'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Burnley told any Mackay approach not welcome

Amid fresh speculation this afternoon about the future of Malky Mackay, chief executive Julian Winter has reiterated the club's stance on the Scotsman.

"We have had no formal approach and if we did, we would reject it." Winter told the Watford Obsserver

SkySports News sparked speculation this afternoon that the Claret's had officially approached the club seeking permission to speak to the 38 year-old however there was no word from Burnley.

Claret's chairman Barry Kilbey had previously been denied permission to discuss the vacant manager's post with Norwich City gaffer, Paul Lambert.

If any news regarding the future of Mackay does break, VitalWatford will as always keep you abreast of the situation.

Stay tuned.

B*gger off Burnley. Malky has an important job to do at Watford and we could do without your arrogant approach for other club's contracted managers. Go away and ask Ian Dowie or Paul Jewell.

If MM wants to go then get rid. We only want people who want to be part of us. The balls in his court. Hurry up though.. We don't want it to drag on...

Agree entirely. Don't think he'd want to leave for Burnley though.

There has been no official approach, this would suggest that burnley have spoken to MM agent and have been rebuffed, so why look silly and go official? Which makes you wonder if the Norwich manager had indicated he would be willing to go? It's a game of cat & mouse and the managers are bluffing to get their contracts improved.

Would they be allowed even to go straight to his agent? Surely that constitutes tapping up? A lot of bluff and double bluff. I think we can virtually sit safely now knowing he's not going anywhere, yet.

In any business deals are done before the management know anything.. MM's agent is not contracted to the club, his contract is with Malky, so the agent can talk with who he likes, without contravening any rules.

Don't go Malky! You are doing a brilliant job at WFC and you know you are loved by the Vic crowd. Just remember what happened to Brenda last year when he went to Reading. Stick with it and you'll be an even bigger hero and maybe get a bigger job - anyway Burnley are below us in the table - money isn't everything!
