Watford in takeover talks

Lord Michael Ashcroft, Hornet's majority shareholder has opened preliminary discussions with an unknown party to sell his 37% majority shareholding in Watford Leisure PLC.

The news was this morning confirmed by BBC Sport

This morning, Ashcroft's company FordWat released the following statement:

'[Talks are] at a very early stage and there can be no certainty that an offer for the company will be forthcoming.

'A further announcement will be made in due course.'

Fingers crossed talks will develop positively and Ashcroft will sell up. Hopefully Ashcroft will be desperate to sell and avoid losing any more money in an investment that has hardly been plain sailing for him.

Ashcroft may not be every ones cup of tea, but at least he stopped the club from going in to administration, sure, we need new owners with deep pockets to try and secure the clubs future. lets hope this is positive....

I echo that sentiment entirely, we are of course indebted to Ashcroft for that. However, I hope he does not just sell to anyone to force through a deal and re-coup as much money as possible, that he considers the good of the club (if and) when selling.
