Cowie out for up to six weeks

Cowie out for up to six weeks

Watford will be without the services of energetic winger Don Cowie after he was injured in the first half at Portsmouth.

The Scotland international was taken off due to a knee problem, and following a scan the former Inverness player will be out for four to six weeks.

Gaffer Malky Mackay confirmed the bad news: "Don has got medial ligament damage in his knee and at the moment we are looking at four to six weeks."

Cowie has arguably been in some of the best form his Hornet's career of late so this setback has come at a particularly bad time for the Hornet's.

However the impressive introduction of Michael Bryan against Portsmouth led to an assist for the diminutive winger before a first league start for the club at home to Ipswich on Tuesday.

Bryan seems the natural choice to replace Cowie although Will Buckley is more than capable of switching to play down the right hand side, whilst Josh Walker and forgotten man Ross Jenkins have both played there in the past.

Choices, choices...
