Watford preparing for epic Troy battle?

Watford are on the charge for Walsall hitman Troy Deeney, according to a couple of local rags in and around the Midlands.

The Birmingham Mail reckon the Hornets are "rumoured to be interested" in the Saddlers 22 year old striker, who has netted 27 times in 95 starts - including 14 to light up League One last season on his way to picking up the Player of the Season award at the Banks Stadium.

And the Sunday Mercury insist that Malky Mackay is throwing some "admiring glances" towards the former Aston Villa trainee who has 1 year left on his contract but is without an agent!

But the Hornets Achilles heel could be finding the transfer fee for Tory according to Walsall gaffer Chris Hutchings, who recently uttered it would take "a lot of money" to prise Deeney away from the club.

With rumoured interest from Peterborough and mounting speculation that Birmingham COULD be looking at the striker, Watford will need to dig deep it seems if they want to land Deeney.

The money for the transfer for the lad should be funded by the EJ concert so maybe he could be coming to WD18?

At the right price could be worthwhile

Appears to be in the 400-600k bracket which might stretch us just a little too far. I think the EJ concert has raised over 800k which could buy us 3 half decent lower league players.

They will not get 6ook. I think 300k will get him.
