Rich pickings for Brentford

Rich pickings for Brentford

Watford`s second string keeper Richard Lee is heavily tipped to be on his way to Brentford, with the Watford Observer even stating the deal could be 'completed` tomorrow.

Lee is expected at Griffin Park some time tomorrow for a medical ahead of joining the League One Bees as their first choice stopper.

The Hornets stopper, who has been with Watford for 18 years, has been a loyal servant at Vicarage Road - but career stats of just 110 appearances in 9 years as a pro simply don`t do his skills between the sticks justice.

That double penalty save at St Marys a few seasons back will live long in Dr Watford`s memory!

Whilst, here at VitalWatford Towers, we`d like to applaud Richard on his ability to bounce back from being time and again dumped on the bench, we`re also conscious his departure will leave Watford short of experienced cover for Scott Loach.

With Scott seemingly linked to a new club every day (today it`s Leeds), Malky Mackay COULD run the risk of going into the new season without a recognised stopper on the books.

…Unless the gaffer has a new glovemaster general waiting in the wings? Let the rumour mill start it`s relentless spinning!!!

Won't be too worried about Rich going, don't rate him too highly to be honest. Can't blame the guy for wanting to leave though, he's 28 years old and you can't be a backup forever.
