Toffeemen come unstuck at Watford

Watford have decided not to pursue their interest in Everton youngsters John Nolan and Moses Barnett after a 2-week trial at Vicarage Road - and now the kids from Merseyside look set to land on the footballing scrapheap.

The Hornets have given reserve team run outs to left back Barnett and midfielder Nolan after it was expected that they were to be released by Everton in the summer.

However, despite putting in some relatively solid performances for the stiffs (especially Barnett, who looked he could do a first team job in defence), after careful consideration, Malky Mackay has confirmed they won`t be heading south!

Mackay told the W`Obserber "The Everton lad [Nolan] has tweaked his knee and has gone back up to Everton so neither of them will be [signing]."

So, that`s that then.
