Season over for Clever Tom

Ahhh, the news we all knew was coming and all secretly dreaded has finally been unveiled this afternoon with Watford confirming Tom Cleverley`s "season is sadly finished"!

The on loan Manchester United and England U21 star suffered lateral ligament damage to his knee in Easter Monday`s battling 1-1 draw with West Brom and has definitely been ruled out for the remaining 5 games of the Hornets campaign

…without doubt a massive blow to the Hornet`s hopes of survival AND not the build up to the huge 12-pointer with relegation rivals Plymouth this weekend.

Malky Mackay had the unenvious task of confirming the worst, telling Watford`s 'fficial site "It is a terrible shame for both Tom and the Club…His impact since being at the Club has been there for all to see…It goes without saying that everyone here wishes him a speedy recovery".

Our Braveheart boss also praised Clever Tom`s "all round attitude and application" and insisted that Cleverley "will go on to have a top-level career" at Old Trafford'.

Ok, so it`s not quite a Black Thursday here at VitalWatford Towers but it sure feels like lady luck has, like on many other occasions this season, kicked us right in the knackers just when we`ve needed it least.

Now, step up to the plate Mssrs McGinn, Cowie, Bryan, Mingoia even and get your creative juices flowing for the all important run-in!
