Goal 'just reward' for Watford warrior

John Eustace - once dubbed the 'Watford Warrior` by former gaffer Aidy Boothroyd - has been singled out again by a Hornets boss, with Malky Mackay singing his praises.

The experienced but battle weary Hornets engine room grafter divides fans opinion however his no-nonsense drive and commitment to the cause in the middle of the park can never really be questioned.

And, with 4 goals to his name this season - including a peach of a strike against Middlesborough - the former Cov and Stoke midfielder is certainly doing his bit in the relegation dogfight.

Of his midfield general, who is out of contract in the summer, Malky Mackay stated "John`s goal was just reward for the amount of consistency that he has put in this season, he has been immense for us every week and every day in training."

And the gaffer added "He has galvanised this young team and you need people like him around your football team - he was absolutely excellent."

Hmmm, many fans expect Eustace to be one of the first heads out of the door marked 'Experienced? Then Exit here` at Vicarage Road this season and there is sure to a queue of suitors ready to pounce.

Here at VitalWatford, we admit that Eustace looks leggy at times and perhaps his forward play isn`t quite that of Jenkins, but we urge the Watford board to get to the table and renegotiate with John ...

...we need to keep his passion and pride to wear the shirt at the Vic.

My view is that John is playing alright at the mo... He runs and runs... Hopefully a bit more in the right direction... Come On Watford Fans Keep The Faith... Less booing and more cheering and support needed....

He has had a good season but in second half he did give the ball away a lot.

Agree with that 100% Dirk.

I am always surprised by people screaming for Jenkins to definately play ahead of Eustace - if we wanted a midfielder to pile forward and not defend then why sell O'Toole?
