Watford`s Captain America, Jay Demerit, was dubbed 'a real competitor' who`s 'going to fight for balls' by US coach Bob Bradley after he put in another all action performance in the 2-1 loss to Holland.
Demerit made a welcome comeback on the international scene, picking up rave reviews for his 'gnarly, tough tackling' 70-minute showing in the Amsterdam friendly before being forced off with injury following a rather nasty looking challenge by Klaus-Jan Huntelaar...
OUCH!!!
The Hornets strapping centre back, who has deliberately postponed contract talks until after the World Cup, is widely expected to line up against England on June 12th.
USA coach Bob Bradley said of Watford`s Captain America "We saw in the summer he is a real competitor…He`s going to fight for balls and he`s not afraid of the situations that arise".
Bradley added "I think [Demerit`s] qualities in the back were important in the summer and important now as we move ourselves forward".
