After Wayne Bridge's 'shock' announcement that his place in the England squad was "now untenable and potentially divisive" (cos JT didn`t say sorry - ahhhh!) and X-rated Ashley`s broken ankle, here at VitalWatford Towers, we've decided there's only one thing for it...

(well, someone had to say it!!!)

Ok, so Mssrs Baines [Everton], Ridgewell [Brum], Warnock [Villa] and even Taylor [Bolton] might have a thing or two to say about it but what harm could there be in promoting Watford`s most unlikely left back as the saviour to all of Fabio Capello`s problems.

A cultured pass & move game, those charges forward, fantastic overlapping ability, unrivalled man marking skills and Lloydy probably doesn`t even know who Vanessa Perroncel is!!!

And, how can we forget, there`s his new found goal scoring record respected across all the leagues….

Doyley is, of course, the answer!


Sure, X-rated Ashley Cole might well be fit enough for South Africa (if someone nicks his phone) and Capello is still "hopeful that [Bridge] will be with us at the World Cup" but we`d advise Fabio to get himself down to WD18 and see for himself…

…though we`d suggest he leave it this weekend as cult hero Doyley might just get the run around from Newcastle`s Argentinian wideman Jonas Gutierrez - and nobody wants to see that!

doesn`t the Argie play on the other flank? anyway, the obvious answer is Gareth Barry to left back as we have enough midfielders to replace him.

We need Barry in midfield. It has to be a straighht shootout between Warnock and Baines. Matty Taylor is a quality player but plays more as a winger these days.

Barry is good in midfield but in Carrick,etc, we have more alternatives than @ Left back. baines is ordinary & warnock still learning,
